Welcome to Mac’s House as Loopmasters join forces with the talented DJ/Producer, Steve Mac with a stunning collection of finely tuned loops and samples, packed with power and punch ready for the dance floor.

Steve Mac, AKA (formerly) one half of the Rhythm Masters began his career as a scratch hip-hop DJ at the age of 11 - where he spent as many hours a day he could practicing, Inspired by the likes of Marly Marl, Dr Dre, Grandmaster Flash and Jazzy Jeff and many other Hip-Hop DJs.

Steve’s Foray into house music first began in 1989; he became resident DJ at the famous Axis nightclub in Malta at the age of 17 playing house and techno. It was there that Steve met Rob Chetcuti who was a regular at the club, Rob was a keyboard player so they decided to join forces and formed the production/DJ duo: The Rhythm Masters - Steve, bringing his acquired skills from his Hip-Hop past into house music.

After three years of studio work, Steve, (along with Rob) moved back to England and spent much of the first half of the 90’s absorbing the house scene - particularly the garage sounds of the US, where his long-term fascination with the US sound began. The sounds from this time can be heard subliminally through every Rhythm Masters track - especially from their album Disconnect Your Head with tracks like, The Ghetto and Underground featuring the vocals of Diane Charlemagne on Black and Blue.

Steve and Rob formed Disfunktional in 1996 and have since, seen releases from Junior Sanchez, Yousef, Richard Grey, Paul Woolford, Lottie, Mutiny, Kashmir, DJ Triple A and the mighty Danny Tenaglia and gorgieo moroders (from here to eternity) It wasn’t until 1996 and their remixes of Todd Terry’s Jumping’ and Plastic Dreams that it really took off for the Rhythm Masters.

Their DJing took Steve and Rob all over the world, including regular sets at the likes of Ministry, Cream and Back 2 Basics. 1997 saw them win the coveted Music Week/Record Mirror Award as the Number 1 Remix team. By the end of the 90’s they found themselves credited amongst the world's top 5 remixers of the decade in Music Week - a testimony to their ability to consistently produce top quality material for the underground and above.

The beginning of 2002 saw an amicable split of the Rhythm Masters as they both decided to take a break and pursue solo projects - whilst still keeping their record label going together.

In 2008 Steve started a label called ‘sMACk’ with the first release a track that he made with Pete Tong called 'Serendipity', he describes the label as his ‘Underground Offshoot’; "I'm well known for all the remixes I did over the years such as Jamiroquai, Amy winehouse , Cee lo Green etc but my label is raw dirty and filthy, the type of music I like to DJ with."

In 2011 Steve released his solo album on Nic Facuilli’s saved records which is more of an electronic selection of music and which he describes as beautiful and very musical.

2012 saw Steve spend the first part of the year building a new recording studio and one of the first jobs he had was mixing Legends Orbital’s new single, which then led him to mix their track for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Paralympics’.

Label Info
Loopmasters
Loopmasters first came to light in 1999 under the 'Beatnik Samples' banner, which released 4 Sample CDs known as the 'Modular Series', and received excellent reviews in the UK and overseas by the likes of Future Music (Platinum Awards), Sound on Sound (5 star reviews) and many other magazines, mainly for the flexibility and general quality of these titles. The titles were distributed worldwide and were used by many recording artists, multimedia designers, library music producers and dance music producers.

Loopmasters officially launched early in 2003 with the aim of producing flexible sample libraries for producers and musicians who required top quality playing from seasoned professioanls to integrate into and inspire their music. Our challenge is to provide you with the best samples and music software that money can buy, so far so good!
